Your photos are lovely! I think I must be living under a rock:) I have never heard of this site. As soon as I have some time I will be checking it out. Thanks for the heads up.

noel

that's very interesting, can you actually have a profile with your link or links to each picture or at the least just have your web site address on the pictures

Michelle

Yes, most users are linking their Panoramio account and Google+ account together.

The GypsyNesters

How come I've never heard of this? Will be checking this out for sure. Beautiful photos, by the way!

Patti

Nope, I've actually never heard of it. I have yet to get around to marking my photos. It's on my "one day I'll get to it" list. I don't fancy myself enough of a photographer to warrant marking my photos, but I know I actually should. I love the photo of the sunset and the little house out at the edge of the water. ;)

The research station photo really tells a story in it's lonely simplicity. linking the Panoramio account and Google+ account together sounds like a perfect combined match. Thanks for this complete info.

I'm pleased to see I'm not the only one who hasn't heard of Panoramio!
I assume you cull through your photos, then select and upload just your best, rather than use it as a storage system for all of your photos?
Certainly a good way to encourage you to do the cull and sort the wheat from the chaff! :)

Michelle

I do sort through my photos and pick the ones I feel worthy of Panoramio. There was one exception I can remember. While in Queenstown a few months ago I was having terrible computer problems and used it to save some photos. I've since purchased an external hard drive and extra storage from Google for $1.99/month so I'm covered. LOTS of raw files take up a lot of space.

Like so many of the other commenters this is the first time I've heard of Panoramio but it sounds like a great idea. Right now we upload all of our photos to a paid account in dropbox (we exceeded the free storage size) and can make photos public if we want but I like your suggestion also and will have to check it out.

Can you actually track traffic back to your blog?

Carole Terwilliger Meyers

I've never heard of Panoramio until now. Thanks for the details.

Michelle

The only way I can track traffic back to my blog is by using my daily site visit graph/info. that Typepad provides.

Your pictures are gorgeous. I have not heard of Panoramio and don't store my photos online. I have used Flickr and Dropbox to a small extent - mostly to get photos to and from friends. I created a private memorial album on Flickr for my mother-in-law that I shared with family and friends. I also used Flickr to post pictures of some keepsakes she wanted to pass on to family so family spread out across the country could view and make selections.

Michele Peterson

Thanks for the tip on Panoramio! It sounds like a handy tool ( and your photos are stunning so I understand why they garner so many views)!

Doreen Pendgracs

Hi Michelle: Thx for the info about Panoramio. I'd never heard of it either. Definitely sounds like it's worth checking out. And your pics are super!

Kofla Olivieri

I never heard of Panoramio either, I store my images in Photobucket. And I love the photo slideshow you created on top of your blog. A couple of years ago I asked the people at Typepad how to add a photo slideshow to my blog and they told me it could not be done, lol

memographer

Beautiful photos, Michelle! The top one has amazing power. I used to store photos in Panoramio. Stopped a while ago. It is getting hard to maintain all networks these days. Thanks for the reminder!

alison @GreenWithRenvy

I have never heard of this site and will definitely check it out. Very impressive numbers for your photos-it's no wonder Michelle, as they are lovely!
