My Visit To Xcaret - Part 2
03/21/2016
Here is a view of the rivers that everyone can snorkel around the park in. This was my second trip to Xcaret. The first time it was in July and it was very hot. Being able to explore the area in the water was very welcome.
I am really not one too visit theme parks especially two days in a row, but Xcaret in Cancun Mexico is an exception. As I discussed in my previous post HERE, this is not an inexpensive theme park but it offers so much. I really do think that there is something for everyone at Xcaret. Cancun has grown into a very large tourist destination and I really felt like I was getting away from all the people while getting to spend time out in nature with animals of all types. The scenery was absolutely beautiful, the buffet lunch was excellent, and there are plenty of places to sit down and relax.
I am also not a big fan of Zoos. I am a vegetarian and not in favor of animals being used for entertainment. I do think some zoos take really good care of their animals and that some do serve a good purpose. Some animals are endangered and would not survive or exist if they weren't being taken care of by a zoo.
I have visited Cancun numerous times over the past 25 years. The first time I visited I don't think there was even an airport as we got on buses as soon as we exited the airplane. Now it is a very popular tourist destination which seems to grow every time I go back. I have visited Beautiful beaches all over the world and Cancun's white powdered air-conditioned sand and turquoise water are among my favorite.
I'm sharing several photos in this post, but they really don't do Xcaret justice as there is so much more to see. I only spent one day at the park and when I return I plan to spend two days. It also started to rain in the afternoon so I had to put my camera in my locker. I truly can't wait to return!
Most of these photos and other can be found on my Pixabay account. Pixabay has hundreds of thousands of photos that can be used for free in a variety of sizes and you don't have to worry about getting in trouble as they are released free of copyrights under Creative Commons CC0. Here is an animal that I had never seen before. I thought it was an anteater, but it's called a Tapir:
Here are some photos for bird lovers. There were beautiful birds all throughout the park.I thought these colorful parrots and macaws were beautiful!
Watching the spider monkeys was one of the highlights of my day. They were so much fun to watch as they are the best acrobats I have ever seen. It seemed as though they knew people were watching them and they were putting on a show.
The aquarium was quite impressive and the marine life seems to have a lot of room to swim around and nice clean water. I thought this turtle looked like it was waving hello to me:
I had never seen a sea urchin before but I thought it was kind of interesting looking even though I thought the starfish was a lot prettier!
Part of the park is a museum of Mexican culture. This is an area I would like to explore further when I return to Cancun again. I really like to learn about different cultures and history. There really is so much to see and if I had had two days I would have been able to take so much more of it in.
I thought this stain glass ceiling was incredible. It reminded me of some of the churches I see in Europe. I collect stain glass lamps and had some silly thoughts of how I could have a stained glass ceiling in my home. I don't see that happening anytime soon.
I love watching the raccoons play. I know a lot of people don't really like raccoons. I think that's unfortunate as they have shown up in neighborhoods in places where they can be a pest that is because they have nowhere else to live right now.
I think the best part about this theme park was being out in nature and fresh air. The jungle was beautiful, there were waterfalls throughout, and the lagoon was stunning.
Here is a Mexican graveyard. I love how it is so colorful. I thought this gravestone of the dog honoring his owner was quite special.
During lunch we were serenaded by these Mexican singers who were quite good:
Here are some butterflies having their lunch:
After eating a wonderful international buffet lunch I relaxed at this gorgeous lagoon and cooled off in the water. I should have taken a photo of the buffet lunch. I truly think anyone could find several things that they what enjoy eating. I'm a vegetarian and a very picky eater and there was plenty for me to choose from. As I said the price was $29 a person which might seem a little high but it was all you can eat and that included an alcoholic beverage for adults.
Thank you for visiting. Have you ever visited Xcaret? It's so did you like it? What are your other favorite theme parks?
~Michelle
